Baroooga & Districts Master Cricket Festival

Barrooga.jpg

Since 2015, the annual Barooga & Districts Masters cricket festival has become a permanent fixture on the Castle Hill RSL Cricket Club's Veteran's cricketing calendar and has continued to grow in popularity amongst our players and the touring group.

The rationale of the festival is simple; to re-affirm the enjoyment of the game of cricket with one's peers who are considered to be in the twilight of their careers but for whom the love of the game burns brightly. The opportunity is presented for cricketers,35 years and older,to continue their passion in a festival atmosphere whilst playing and fraternising with kindred spirits. Highly valued by the Masters Cricket Festival Organising Committee is the emphasis on friendly competition in games on good quality rustic grounds and top grade turf pitches in an environment that embraces fun and fellowship.

Games are played over 4 days across two divisions with matches played in either a 40 overs per side or 30 overs per side format.

  • Batsmen must retire at 40 in a 40 over match & 30 in a 30 over match but are entitled to resume their innings    when all team members have batted.  Retired batsmen must resume their innings in the order they retired.

  • Bowlers are restricted to 7 overs each in the 40 over matches and 6 overs in the 30 over matches are also        limited to a maximum run up 10 metres.

Castle Hill is proud to have competed in every edition since 2015 with the exception of 2021 due to Covid restrictions and has been successful in winning several tournaments along the way, whilst setting some festival records with several of our players winning individual awards.

In 2024, a Classics (over 50's) division was introduced for the 1st time and was won by Castle Hill RSL Cricket Club.
